Abstract

Post-cesarean wound healing is influenced by various factors, including psychological and physical support from close family members. The involvement of husbands during the postpartum period plays a crucial role in accelerating maternal recovery and preventing complications. This study aims to analyze the effects of husband support on post-cesarean wound healing in postpartum mothers. This research used a quasi-experimental design. A total of 58 postpartum mothers after cesarean delivery in hospitals were selected using purposive sampling. Participants were divided into two groups: the intervention group (n=29) in which husbands received education on wound care and were involved in assisting their wives during the postpartum period and the control group (n=29) who received standard care without husband involvement. Wound healing was measured using the REEDA scale (Redness, Edema, Ecchymosis, Discharge, Approximation) on the 7th and 14th days after delivery. Data were analyzed using independent and paired t-tests with a significance level of p<0.05. The Results shows that the mean of REEDA score on the 14th day in the intervention group was significantly lower (1.10 ± 0.82) compared to the control group (2.35 ± 1.20) (p=0.000). Husband support significantly accelerates post-cesarean wound healing in postpartum mothers. Family-based interventions, particularly husband involvement, should be integrated into postpartum care protocols to enhance maternal recovery.
